Welcome to the site of
dorset family history society
Dorset Family History Society is for those who are interested in tracing their family history, whether they are beginners or experts.
Dorset FHS can provide research support and facilities for people in the UK or overseas with family interests in Dorset, as well as those who live in Dorset but whose families may have lived in other counties or countries.
Family History Day
Saturday 15th March 2014
More details are being added to our dedicated Open Day page, so please check there.
The theme for the day is the First World War and there will be a display of memorabilia.
The latest information and additions to this site are usually signposted from our Current News page, so please visit there often.
A varied Programme of meetings featuring expert speakers has been arranged for the year on the second Monday in each month, except August.
A Computer Group also meets on the first Tuesday in most months.
All enquiries should be made to the Treetops Research Centre during opening times.
Dorset Family History Society is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies, and from that site there are links to other Family History Societies who may be more local to you if you don't live in Dorset. Belonging to a family history society can be a great help in finding out how to trace your ancestors and meeting other people with similar interests. Even if you have already traced your family tree for quite a long way back, a local family history society will often provide interesting meetings with a range of talks on subjects that you will find useful.
