Dorset History Centre

The Dorset History Centre, in Dorchester, unites two services - Dorset's Archives and Dorset Local Studies.

Poole History Online

Discover a wealth of local heritage information and images. The website's rich resource of thousands of photographs, documents and maps has been compiled and digitised by volunteers working in Poole History Centre over the years since it was founded in 2000.

Isle of Purbeck

Poole & District Philatelic & Postcard Club

Commonwealth War Graves Commission

The "Debt of Honour Register" is the Commission's database listing the 1.7 million men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died during the two world wars and the 23,000 cemeteries, memorials and other locations worldwide where they are commemorated. The register can also be searched for details of the 67,000 Commonwealth civilians who died as a result of enemy action in the Second World War.

Federation of Family History Societies

Provides links to over 210 family history societies and other genealogical organisations world-wide, which it represents, advises and supports.

International Haskell Family Society

The Society's aims and objectives are to promote friendship and to perpetuate the memory of all Haskell ancestors and to collect and exchange records and other material of significance to the Haskell family.

The National Archives - Kew

Has one of the largest archival collections in the world, spanning 1,000 years of British history, from the Domesday Book of 1086 to government papers recently released to the public.

National Federation of Cemetery Friends

Caring about the future of Britain's Cemeteries. Formation of the Federation was the result of heritage and conservation minded groups concerned about the decline in care of Victorian cemeteries meeting like minded volunteers.

New Brunswick Provincial Archives

They have a full index of BMDs for 1800 to 1960. If you are fortunate enough to find anyone you should be able to download a jpg of the certificate - for free! The certificate gives quite a lot more info than English ones do.

A group of keen family historians with a special interest in their British Gypsy and Traveller roots.

UKBMD

This project has been going for ten years now and at least 10 counties have put their transcriptions of Registrar's original registers on line. Follow the link for more details and an explanation of their difference from the transcriptions at FreeBMD.
