Can anyone make any suggestions how I can knock down my brick wall?

I am looking for info. about John Downton and his wife Susannah ??

As far as I know they had three children born/baptised at Warmwell, John Downton in 1761, Edward in 1764 & Sarah in 1768.

John died in 1849 at Lytchett Matravers, Edward in 1812 at Winterborne Anderson & Sarah in 1846 at Wareham.

John senior’s wife Susannah died in 1806 at Moreton the same parish where her daughter Sarah married William Valence in 1802.

I have been unable to find birth, marriage or burial records for John Senior or birth or marriage records of Susannah ??

The only other info. I have found may or may not be true. Edward married Dinah Miller at Winterborne Anderson in 1793. There is baptism record of an Edward in 1799 son of Edward & Diana Downton at Whitcombe. I have looked on Dorset OPC records for marriages at Whitcombe around 1760 but there seems to be gaps in the registers due to fire damage.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I have found a John Downton Baptised at St Wolfrida, Horton, on 15 Dec 1737. Parents Hugh and Joan. I found him on Find My Past, transcribed by the DFHS.
Is this of any help? He could be about the right age.
