“A Duffer’s Guide to History” – a talk by Steve Roberts
December 15 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Steve will give us a whistle-stop tour of British (and a bit of World) history from the Stone Age to the Cold War. It’s going to be a bit of ‘1066 and all that’ with some humour along the way, covering the key moments in our history, in chronological order, so you can see where we’re going. Lots of questions posed (and hopefully answered) as we go – was there really a King Arthur? Why was Alfred the Great, and did he really burn cakes? Why was Edward I called “Longshanks”? and did his son, Edward II really fall foul of a red hot poker!? Steve will also slip in some snippets of local history! It should be quite a journey!!
We welcome Steve back once more for another entertaining talk. Steve is a resident of Christchurch, originally graduating as a teacher, he later changed career to become an IT Project Manager. In 2012 he moved to Christchurch, becoming a freelance writer, private tutor and public speaker.
