“Dirty Deeds” – a talk by Louise Haywood
July 21 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
In 2018 Louise published a book working for the Corfe Castle Charities. Following on from the research she did, Louise tells us what research she did, what documents she used and how she found them. The talk will hopefully help those of you that wish to discover details about a family home, or land, and the sort of stories that can emerge.
In 1999 Louise became “hooked” on church records, and in 2000 became a volunteer transcribing the 1861 Census for Falmouth, becoming an OPC and taking on Corfe Castle and Kimmeridge. in 2010 she gained an Advanced Diploma in Local History through Oxford University. Corfe Castle Charities then asked if Louise would write up their 400 years of history! This took 8 years, as, amongst others, the Bankes Archive had not been catalogued. Louise is currently a volunteer archivist at Dorset History Centre, cataloguing the Bond Archives, she volunteers in research for the National Trust, and is Chairman of Corfe Castle Town Trust.
